Distant Uluru Sunrise, 2017 Oil on canvas 81x91cm

2017 CENTRAL AUSTRALIA

Just a quick visit for 3 nights with some friends but I was reminded of how inspiring this country is. My previous visit in 1989 was much more extensive travelling by car and staying a few days at each location and in milder weather during September and time for on-site painting. Whereas this visit was in February with 40+ degree heat. But nevertheless we saw the sunrise at both Uluru and Kata Tjuta, a most amazing experience. The desert was lush this time and we were actually rained on and saw Uluru in the distance with a raincloud directly over it! I feel privileged to have seen the desert looking like this - vibrant iridescent green and full of life!
